Important hermaphrodites in  history?

I think there must be at least some hermaphrodites , not males, not
females in ancient history?

Or did they kill them all before they grew up?

How about the contribution of the Snail and the Worm to the advent of
Agriculture. How the worm aerated and mixed the soil to the nutrients could
get to the roots of the crops whereas the snail became the enemy of the
farmer by attacking his crops.

Well they did leave out traps for the snails to fall into. The worms on the
other had were a good thing but some did get chopped in half by the plough.
