I'm finally getting around watching HBO Rome II.
In the the first episode, Calpurnia has someone put
milk in the mouth of Ceaser's corpse (in a shocking way).
I havent heard of this tradition of feeding the dead
directly.   Does anyone know about this?

Go to the "Special features" section on the DVD. I
believe it's under "all roads lead to Rome" or something
similar, but you can turn on the text commentary which
provides background/historical information on many of
the customs & practices depicted in the series.
