No, it is about getting hundreds of banner adverts onto our screens.

How much do you make from banner adverts?
Totally FREE Genealogy - 01 Aug 2003 00:38 GMT
It has nothing to do with banner anything.  It is about giving FREE
Genealogy information to others so they do not have to pay for it.  The
banner ads pay for the web host and usually not that.  I have been running
this website for over 12 years and until this month NEVER ran a banner but
unfortunately, the time spent and the $$ to keep the domain, etc, is not
FREE.
THE INFORMATION MY WEBSITE OFFERS IS FREE!
Thank you for your patronage...hopefully you will return to my website and
find appreciation for the hard work and time I (and there is only I) have
spent to offer this to the public rather than hanging onto it just for
myself.

If your intent is to get your message out, it has been done more than
sufficiently.
Totally FREE Genealogy - 01 Aug 2003 19:47 GMT
My intent is to offer a much needed service to those trying to find their
ancestors but are being charged astronomical anounts for information that
can be obtained FREE elsewhere.
Why is it that everyone wants to read into my posts that I am only trying to
make a buck?  I have run this website for years and I want people to KNOW
about it.  Is that so wrong?  It is of interest to others as shown by the
many wonderful responses I get thru my email and the Surname Board postings
on my website.  I also offer my personal advice relevent to genealogy to
anyone who needs it.  I am not some huge corporate guru - I am one
individual trying to bring information to the fingertips of those who are
being tricked into paying for information that is obtainable FREE.

Yes, we've seen you say that.  Many, many, many, many times.

Because the technique you're using (over-and-over-and-over-announcing it)
smells so much like what I get about 50 of in my inbox every day.  You
have made people aware of it; you're going way overboard in doing so.
If it's a legitimate website, people have seen the posts and will go
there.

Great, that's wonderful.  Glad you're doing it.  People know about it
already, is all I'm saying.  Your enthusasm is notable; just don't go
so far that people start ignoring your messages.  It's a fine line.

I have found it nearly impossible to view your web site, because of the
violet background obscuring the black font.

Is it unique to my computer, or can you select a lighter background?

I did not check the whole site but did a couple of the lessons links and the
background was always the same grayish color with a an allover pattern.
Reading was no problem and it does load more quickly than originally but is
still too slow for my dial-up connection (country phone line) to wish to
search very thoroughly.
