---------------------------------

I detest the polemic, arbitrary off-topic declarations, and vulgar
language in all 3 NGs the past month concerning my posts
on Qumran Studies and Christian Origins.  Please stop.

Backed up by scholarly references, I made the strong case -
a) The Qumran "stone disk", listed in De Vaux's notes, was a
sundial, used by Essenes, later converted into an odometer.

b) "All the pesharim belong together, reflecting the presence
of the Teacher of Righteousness. Only one edition of each of
them, some 18 in all, was found in the caves. This fact, with
the fact that they are an ephemeral kind of literature, means
that it cannot be maintained that they were composed at an
earlier period and that those found in the caves are copies of
earlier compositions."

c) "The radiocarbon dating of the relevant group of sectarian
documents within the Dead Sea Scrolls, when correlated
with paleograohy and the contents of the documents, allows
the possibility that the Teacher of Righteousness lived and
died during the period of the foundation of Christianity. This
conclusion is contrary to a view now commonly held, that
the radiocarbon datings have disproved a Christian connection."

d) 2 figures within a small subset of DSS - identification of
John the Baptist as Teacher of Righeousness and Jesus
Christ as Wicked Priest.

---------------------------------

I will entertain sincere questions and give full answers
to establish the Thiering Case once and for all.

We detest the passive-aggressive, monomaniacal and avoidance of D.
Carl Christiansen these past many months.

> Please stop.

The power to have that happen is in D. Carl Christiansen's hands.

But the capacity to use that power is hostage to D. Carl
Christiansen's clear incapacity to function as a useful, contributing
member of a free and open discussion group.

Dear Tom,

OTOH, we want to engage you on the archaeological side
of the question of putting Christian Origins to Qumran/Essenes.

IMHO, the archaeology best comes in as relates to -

the accuracy of the carbondating of certain relevant scrolls,

certain Greg Doudna issues,

certain Jodi Magness issues as they conflict with Thiering views
on dating when Qumran was inhabited even though the 2 of them
agree Essenes were at Qumran.

Of course, such an investigation is multi-disciplinary or multi-
faceted.
That's why at least 3 NGs should ideally be involved in the broader
topic of putting Christian Origins to Qumran/Essenes.

(SRQ is involved because of SRQ history dating from 1997 which
anyone may reference in the Archives - my handle was KQUAKER
or david_christainsen@hotmail.com etc.)

If you would kindly stop playing psychologist with me, stop polemic,
avoid certain Anglo-Saxon words, and open your mind -

we could have a Qumran Conference of our own.

Yours in Christ,
David Christainsen
