May I suggest, although I am a fairly newby in this group, that the
old concept of shunning might apply here. The clown seems to feel
anything less than a court order is approval of his exhibiting his
prejudices and whacko ideas on this newsgroup.

I was wondering, why you didn't just put him in the litter box and be
done with.

But the cat is already putting him (or a reasonable facsimile
thereof ) into the litter box

Then let's hope the cat doesn't take that as an insult.

A court order? Naah, after a careful study
of a link to the first match in Google he is
sure that he has the approval of God himself.
But I think you are right. That's why I already
killfiled the troll in this group.

You got it, mate. I just put Carl in my twit filter.
Because so many here are willing to play Carl's game, the only real answer is
to inform people that, while they are free to feed the Carl troll, those who
feed trollz often end up in the twit filter along with the trollz.
One last time just for luck:
Piss off, Carl.

Go back to your hot project and don't bother the adults.

I don't think a court order would sway him. His wife divorced him, but
he doesn't accept that he is divorced!
But you are right. I have him killfiled in Thunderbird, but
occasionally have had to use Google Groups when my ISP is playing
silly buggers with Usenet. For which I have not used the available
killfile-analog. Plus, watching Carl be Carl has all the queer
attraction of a very slo-mo train wreck.
I will do what I can to refrain from replying to him on GG, too.

I've been both suggesting and practising this for some time. 'Ignore
thread' and kill-files are useful tools.

At least once a year and usually more frequently some believer appears to save
us from ourselves. It also happens in soc.history.ancient and there usually in
the form of the illiterate and ignorant idea that the OT contains real history
instead of being total myth. The last time it happened in sci.arch it was so bad
I dropped out for nearly three years as I do not consider myself an old-timer
here as I do in s.h.a and s.h.w-i.

Is there anything Israel cannot do? As all criticism of Israel is
antisemitism what can it do worthy of criticism? As it can do nothing worthy
of criticism, there are no limits on what it can do.

And this is supposed to be bad? For whom?

Not me.
Is this another stay/go or piss off/piss on poll? :-)

With Matt once it gets past a certain stage it's always "go". If there
are no brown shirts, crooked crosses and funny ideas about a bunch of
horsemen who destroyed the Indus civilization it's pretty tame.

Mostly what I point out is there is no physical evidence for anything
significant in the OT and that all the major characters are mythical. Stick
around and you may possibly learn not to believe without physical evidence.

You newbies are always encouraged to ask questions.
In this case you will have to ask those who stayed as I am usually effective in
helping to drive the bible believers out of soc.history.ancient. The main
problem now is still David the Thiering Stalker in both newsgroups.
BTW: I assume you are not one of those who believes without physical evidence
that there is any history in the Old Testament. If you do believe, stick around
and learn it is all fiction.

Tsk. As a member of the guild of
professional trolls let me *expound* our
reason d'etre which is to bust up cabals of
nose and belly-rubbing, back-scratching,
pocket-pissing old farts, wholly immersed in
the usual paradigm-wallowing orthodoxies.
