Statue Of Lord Roberts In The Horseguards

Hi,

I noticed there was some damage to the statue's base .   The pitted
natured of the damage reminds me of bomb damage. Is that correct?  If
so, when did it happen?

Take a look at the Guards Memorial at the other end of the parade ground, it
looks to have suffered similar damage.
I agree with you, it looks like bomb damage to me but i can find no
references to it.
