Recte:

Dr. Condoleezza Rice, the American Secretary of State, would be an excellent
next President of the United States -- perhaps the best of all the available
candidates on either the Democrat or Republican side.

I hope she runs for the office.

The United States will be the better for it.

An excellent candidate, quite probably the best the Republicans have.
However, if nearer to the date, it seems obvious that the Republican
candidacy is a poison chalice, then you could end up with Ms. Rice
doomed to political obscurity irrespective of her merits.Where the
economy and/or Iraq is come election time is still uncertain.

For a black woman to become president, she will have to be a
Republican (at least at present) because those that worry about such
things are not likely to switch their allegiance to the Democrats. A
woman vs woman presidential contest is even more intriguing.

You know, people keep talking this up.  However, they keep missing one
small detail.  SHE HAS REPEATEDLY SAID SHE DOESN'T WANT IT AND WON'T
TAKE IT EVEN IF IT IS OFFERED.

That ought to be enough to end that discussion.
