But for you-know-what, would Titanic have lead
a life as obscure her sister ship Olympic? And did
her loss cause the White Star line to fold and
get bought up by Cunard?

It is not clear how getting sunk in wartime makes a
ship "obscure."

This company takeover has many components
including hull subsidies, passenger traffic, etc.,
some of which did not exist when the Titanic sank.

it was the brittanic that was sunk in wartime after hitting a mine.
so i guess you can say she was obscure.
There's a school of thought which maintains that the Olympic WAS the
Titanic, following an accident and an insurance fraud.
