Foley, as chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus, had
introduced legislation in July to protect children from exploitation by
adults over the Internet. He also sponsored other legislation designed
to protect minors from abuse and neglect.
"We track library books better than we do sexual predators," Foley has said.
And he once accused the Supreme Court of "siding with pedophiles over
children."

and the internet is such a bad medium for doing things like that.
everything is saved somewhere and anything can be traced. no matter how many
remailers you pass it through.

I read about that last night. It's bad news for the Republicans. Foley was
apparently a shoo in for reelection and now the Republicans don't even have
a candidate.

He wasn't a shoo-in but he had actually done better in 2004 than Bush
in the district. The Dem candidate is strong and the Florida law says
Foley has to stay on the ballot but that whoever replaces him will get
those votes. The irony of ironies Foley could be prosecuted on a law
that he spondored and supposedly helped to write. Welcome to Florida.
It was Foley's district that he "protected" against a recount in 2000.
"The problem for the GOP is that Florida's 16th congressional district
isn't that strong a GOP district. Foley won in 2004 with 68% of the
vote. But President Bush pulled only 54%. That tells me it's a GOP
district. And there was already a serious Democratic challenger in the
race."http://www.timmahoneyforflorida.com/e3/index.php
