Actually, for many of them English is their FIRST language. It's just an unusual accent like american is.

"true descenders"? I've studied this over for quite a spell. I'm afraid I must seek clarification.

I thought you were an oldtimey computer guy. You do not remember dot matrix printers where the hangy down bits of the small g's, y's, j's, p's and q's did not *descend* below the line. Then we got printers that printed true descenders. Then we got proportional fonts. Needless to say, in the reference I was talking about hangy down bits of a different kind.

I only regurgitate talking points. They tried potshots to each other from behind their killfiles. When I didn't rise to the bait they gave up. Bless their little black hearts.

Bless their little black hearts. Have a little compassion here, James. About the only amusement these bedridden old fogies have left to them these days is winding up Americans.

In my original post (which Hines has spammed to hell and back) I made a distinction between Indian 'native speakers' of English and those taught the language later in life.
Indians who learn English as their mother tongue speak the language in a distinctly different manner to those who learn it later in the very formal atmosphere of the Indian school system.
