Nancy Pelosi is a woman who has made up her mind and who does NOT want to be
confused by the FACTS.

Initially, she didn't even want General Petraeus to GIVE a classified
briefing to the House legislators -- pleading "scheduling conflicts".

She didn't want THEM to be confused by the facts either.

Pelosi Won't Attend Petraeus Briefing

House Speaker Had Phone Conversation With Top U.S. Iraq Commander

By JAKE TAPPER
ABC News

WASHINGTON, Apr. 24, 2007— As the House and Senate prepare to vote this week
on the final conference report on the $124 billion troop funding bill —
which would also mandate that U.S. combat troops begin withdrawing from Iraq
on Oct. 1 at the latest — Gen. David Petraeus is scheduled to come to the
Hill tomorrow to brief lawmakers on the progress of the recent troop
escalation.

ABC News has learned, however, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.,
will not attend the briefing.

"She can't make the briefing tomorrow," a Democratic aide told ABC News
Tuesday evening. "But she spoke with the general via phone today at some
length."

A Pelosi aide said the speaker on Tuesday requested a one-on-one meeting
with Petraeus but that could not be worked out. He said their phone
conversation lasted 30 minutes.

Last week, House Democratic leaders were criticized by their Republican
counterparts when they initially declined an invitation from Petraeus to
brief House members on the status of the war due to "scheduling conflicts."

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, called the decision
"irresponsible" and said it constituted a "dereliction of duty." But by the
end of the day, Pelosi's office changed course and scheduled a briefing for
members of the House for Wednesday, April 25.

The office of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said the senator
would attend the classified briefing with senators on Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Nancy Pelosi voted against the war.

But I can understand your point of view, Hines. Bush has been great  for
his base, the 'haves' and the 'have mores'.

Besides cutting top marginal tax rate for the 'have mores' in war times,
Bush has successfully transferred 1/2 a trillion of tax payers money to
the military industry, contractor, mercenaries.

This transfer of money has additional advantages, not only enriching his
cronies.

Bankrupting the Federal Government is one. So we may achieve the wet
dream of Norqiest "drowning the Federal government in a bathtub", and of
course cutting social services.

Mercenaries come very handy to control the plebeians, as the trial run
in New Orleans proved it.

The price of building new walls and gated communities can be easily
compensated by encouraging old, unproductive people to die a little
sooner. Denying health insurance works quite well.

Welcome to the Neoliberal New World of old feudal system of kings and
barons. Well, at least kings quarreled some times. The Corporate
Oligarchy are in prefect agreement to exploit all human regardless of
nationality.

Hi,

I think it is interesting that as speaker of the house she only wants
to hear what she wants to hear. What type of leadership is this? Bad!
This really makes me wonder about the 2008 election. The democrats
need to realize that they cannot just say they do not want to talk or
listen to people who do not knee-jerk to what they say.

Well, my prediction is that if the democrates win the 2008 election,
they will end the iraq war by making appeasement/peace with al-sadr
and allow iraq to be partitioned into three countries. Strange new new
world.
