BBC History magazine has a new feature: what year would you like to go back to
(as an historian) and why. Ronald Hutton chooses 1946 (I won't spoil it for
you) but what year (for *British* history) would you choose?

That's easy.  22 August 1485 is the date, and
I would arrive early to rescue Richard III
from the stabbing in the back he suffered
later that day.

England would have been saved for the Holy
Mother Roman Church, blossomed under the
benign reign of the House of York, saved from
the conniving and inveigling randy Tudors,
and rescued form any prospect protestant
apostasy.  Additionally, that black bitch
Margaret Beaufort would have had her throat
slit and her bastard pup drowned in the
Thames.
