Moon-walker claims alien contact cover-up

July 24, 2008
The Daily Telegraph

FORMER NASA astronaut and moon-walker Dr Edgar Mitchell - a veteran of the
Apollo 14 mission - has stunningly claimed aliens exist.

And he says extra-terrestrials have visited Earth on several occasions - but
the alien contact has been repeatedly covered up by governments for six
decades.

Dr Mitchell, 77, said during a radio interview that sources at the space
agency who had had contact with aliens described the beings as 'little
people who look strange to us.'

He said supposedly real-life ET's were similar to the traditional image of a
small frame, large eyes and head.

Chillingly, he claimed our technology is "not nearly as sophisticated" as
theirs and "had they been hostile", he warned "we would be been gone by
now".

Dr Mitchell, along with with Apollo 14 commander Alan Shepard, holds the
record for the longest ever moon walk, at nine hours and 17 minutes
following their 1971 mission.

"I happen to have been privileged enough to be in on the fact that we've
been visited on this planet and the UFO phenomena is real," Dr Mitchell
said.

"It's been well covered up by all our governments for the last 60 years or
so, but slowly it's leaked out and some of us have been privileged to have
been briefed on some of it.

"I've been in military and intelligence circles, who know that beneath the
surface of what has been public knowledge, yes - we have been visited.
Reading the papers recently, it's been happening quite a bit."

Dr Mitchell, who has a Bachelor of Science degree in aeronautical
engineering and a Doctor of Science degree in Aeronautics and Astronautics
claimed Roswell was real and similar alien visits continue to be
investigated.

He told the astonished Kerrang! radio host Nick Margerrison: "This is really
starting to open up. I think we're headed for real disclosure and some
serious organisations are moving in that direction."

Mr Margerrison said: "I thought I'd stumbled on some sort of astronaut
humour but he was absolutely serious that aliens are definitely out there
and there's no debating it."

Officials from NASA, however, were quick to play the comments down.

In a statement, a spokesman said: "NASA does not track UFOs. NASA is not
involved in any sort of cover up about alien life on this planet or anywhere
in the universe.

'Dr Mitchell is a great American, but we do not share his opinions on this
issue.'

I am astonished that there is still controversy about this matter?

Assuming we are all aware that understanding history involves a certain
amount of "reading between the lines", I normally see the benchmark for any
'proof' as being the investment of large amounts of cash, in processes which
indicate something 'unusual'....

The UK and US governments have certainly been involved in an Xfile style
cover up for many decades, which probably started before Roswell. Concerning
Roswell, whether you choose to believe it was a crashed alien spacecraft, a
secret military balloon, or the inevitable result of cold-war, McCarthyite
paranoia, one thing stands out above all else: if there was 'nothing to
hide', why did the US govt. deem it necessary to remove several feet of
topsiol and rock from many acres around the 'crash site', to a depth of ten
feet (not a cheap operation in that rocky terrain!)? I think we should be
told...

A similar thing happened in the early 80's in the UK, at Rendlesham forest,
near a US airbase. US military personnel saw an inexplicable 'phenomenon' in
the forest near to their base, and investigated. There were apparently
mysterious radar anomalies, power surges and inexplicable equipment failures
in the process, which was well observed and certainly NOT a bunch of stoned
Americans mistaking a lighthouse for a spacecraft!

The story is well known and documented, and (as usual) visitors from 'high
command' turned up within hours, removed records, and threatened all
witnesses with the direst consequences if they spoke to the press etc.
etc....
The law does in fact state that whilst in the US military, any activity can
be deemed 'secret' and severe penalties can be imposed on any who disobey,
even after leaving the forces. Interestingly, some of the servicemen
involved were disgruntled, feeling they had been made fools of by official
attempts to cover up the incident, and upon retirement, boldly reasserted
their opinions, observations and experiences publicly, despite being under
threat of imprisonment. Significantly, no prosecutions have taken place, as
to have the matter aired in open court would seem to be against the
interests of 'national security'!

All that aside, the most intriguing thing about this incident is the fact
that unmarked British Army units moved into the forest shortly afterwards,
and removed all the trees and several feet of topsoil in the area of the
alleged sighting... unusual behaviour? Expensive ....

The sad fact is that certain US agencies acted in a very heavy handed way,
when covering up various incidents, within living memory. Certain people
would probably be liable to very serious jailtime were the full factsknown,
so the cover-ups and confusion continue.

In the former Soviet Union things are somewhat less restricted and
concealed, as former KGB men (now Russian Mafia) pillage the archives, and
now sell intersting goodies to the highest bidder. The alien craft which
crashed near Stalingrad was well documented and filamed at the time (early
60's, on contemporary film stock), and although the four young medics who
did a post mortem on alien remains all died within six months of 'brain
haemorrages', the record remains. The price that was paid for this footage
was absurdly low, and wouldn't have covered the cost of production (never
mind finding the correct, impossible to obtain Russian vehicles involved).
If it was a piece of old Soviet mischief, to create paranoia in the West, it
was less than clever in its stark simplicity, and 'unconvincing' post
mortem... and was never used,  but still kept....

No, there is too much evidence, this phenomena will never go away, and we
are slowly being drip fed 'the facts' via the media and films, so it isn't
too much of a shock. Needless to say, no government in the world would
welcome the idea of some 'higher power' they could not resist... or that
perhaps we could appeal to? No religion either...

To quote Mr Gorbachev... "these are a real phenomena, and must be taken
seriously". What President Eisenhower thought has never been revealed. They
should be taken seriously even so... didn't your old man tell you anything
about this David? He had connections with MJ12, did he not? Wink wink...

First, the existence of a "substantial file" in a government office
about something, means very little.  There are substantial files in
government offices about the color scheme of the forest rangers loo,
the thickness of wall calendars, or the astronauts' pens.

Secondly, just as religious people need to explain why God keeps
choosing not to come clean with us and manifest herself in a manner
our senses can report, UFO enthusiasts need to explain why beings
capable of interstellar travel keep choosing to contact us in
surreptitious ways.   Why instead don't they hover over say, London or
New York and show their friendliness by dropping sackfuls of their
latest Iphone?

Neither theists nor UFOers can see anything wrong with the ludicrous
current state of their affairs.

Thirdly, no government can pull covering events of THAT magnitude for
60 days, never mind 60 years.

The number of people involved would be large and the amount of control
necessary to keep them mum is just not one of the powers any
government possesses.

Secrets can be kept quite effectively on defense matters, and other
government data, because none piece of it is really of great interest
to the world at large, other than the foreign counterparts, but
extraterrestrial life is not the same.  Nothing comes near it.  The
leaks would be Iguazu size.

The effects of long walks on the moon don't seem to be all that
salutary.

Instead of such talk, ALL these claimers have to do is to show a
SINGLE artifact that is evidently of not human or natural manufacture.

You would think that after all those visits that would be a cinch.

Much as I keep an open mind, it's beginning to look like pigs will
streak across the sky at Mach 2 before we see that kind of evidence.
