How to Troll Effectively

Oh, do stop shrieking, Spencer.  You are writing to military history
groups; we're all tediously familiar with the old troll tactic that
demands that a person post some scanned document.  We have all seen it
played out over and over... demands for proof of... something or
other.  It has nothing to do with the material to be posted, of
course; it's all about making the other person meet a demand of yours.
When you use it, it generally pisses off the target; however, it costs
you the respect of others.

A few years ago, while trolling over on the homosexual groups, I saw
an exchange where one poster was flaming at another because he hadn't
posted any proof that he was actually a queer (yeah, that's what *I*
thought, too); i.e., he was just pretending to be a faggot.  I thought
it was, in your terms, "hilarious", and, every time someone drags out
that tired old tactic. I always think of that exchange between the
fudge-packers years ago.

You would do better actually to engage the other person's point; on
the other hand, *you*, most likely, wouldn't.
