So is the Arts and Humanties Research Council going to be of any use?

Well it'll get some historians some big dinners.

It may even get one or two big research grants.

It might even get some good TV made (but I doubt that)

There might even be a couple of reasonable Living History projects funded,
they're high profile and can command national newspaper inches.

Apart from that everyone involved will get a nice warm fuzzy feeling.

So,  no,  it's not going to make any real difference.
