I recall skimming a few of his long articles in the mid-late nineteen
sixties in the NEW REPUBLIC which was then a somewhat farther left
political magazine, and is approx today half free access on the
internet
this book review in the new republic's rival, the still farther left
nation, is a fun, very informative read to me, because i recall
reading negative and favorable criticisms of his lengthy knowing,
gloomy 'nam articles, and that he had actually reported the war in
french indo china (vietnam) in the early-mid 1950s, late 1940s
