Was Jesus a rebel leader?

This is not a troll, but I have a few questions about Jesus Christ.  I
realize that Jesus questioned the authority of the Jewish Nobility of
Roman-occupied Israel.  I personally assume that the Jewish nobility
supported the Roman-occupation, in much the same fashion that the
Afghani nobility were more likely to support the Soviet occupation of
Afghanistan back in '79, or the way that the pre-Independence American
nobility supported the British.

I realize that Jesus has never written or dictated anything which is
in the Bible's New Testament.  However, the Gospels deal with Jesus'
life, but it's not really autobiographical or even that biographical
of Jesus.

It's to my opinion that Jesus' teaching resonated with the
economically downtrodden, the people who didn't have much share in the
Roman-occupied government, and Jesus hanging out with the prostitutes
is indicative of this.

What I am curious about is whether or not Jesus may have been regarded
as a rebel leader who used peaceful, and not militant, methods to
acquire freedom/independence?
It's all a bit strange - 30 Dec 2007 05:33 GMT

I think they're referring to Jimi H Christ. The bloke who used to surf on
sticks in the shape of a cross. The original hippie, him.
