>When did this split occur in history and why?
hey, i think i'd like to try this one, or at least a little of it
the split happened (w/o looking, but guessing) circa...within the first couple
of hundred years
the original Christian Church split between the eastern & western, because:
surely big and small theological differences including aspects of text
interpretation, ritual, liturgy
geographical-logistical distances, we can't comprehend the limitations of the
horse 'n buggy non-electric past
language communication dichotomy problem:
latin & romance languages versus cyrillics alphabets
traditional national rivalries between individual east & west european
countries surely reflected in their churches' politics too
byzantine & greek architectures versus roman columns, very important to
christian art majors
perhaps the question of celibacy versus
not celibacy, which afflicts/disadvantages/hurts the rcc to this very day
p.s. for ye of actual relevant knowledge: vatican I and vatican II: momentous
events in RCC history regarding the jews--have the liberal, humanistic concepts
been substantially accepted or rejected by the various eastern orthodox
churches (greek, ukraine, russian, turkish, serbian)?
what a fine question, monsewer cohen
> When did this split occur in history and why?
Why do you even give a sh.t?
