Most historians agree that the Spaniards brought nothing but contempt and destruction for local traditions.
To speak of a Dark Ages European "civilization" with a talent for Iniquisition as being somehow more advanced than an ancient civilization that had a well developed system of mathematics and astronomy only reveals more about you - that you consider people with ability to blow up and destroy to be more advanced than people who build.
