This film skipped the part when Jesus is brought to King Herod and

When did this split occur in history and why?

I read recently that the first automobile in my hometown (Hampton, VA)
arrived in 1903.  Since most people still used horse and buggies to get
into town then, I was wondering where they parked them.  Hitching
posts?  Livery stables?  How was this usually handled?
