Union.Should the states of Kentucky and Missouri have a star in the
Confederate flag?

"The War of the Rebellion"27 Apr 2004 12:33 GMT195
The war was begun at Ft. Sumter & not by the north. Both parties were
responsible for allowing the insane & horrendous Frankenstein of a war
to happen. My fascination for this conflict lies in the fact of it's
existance & severity. I can't beleve we couldn't resove our differences
Hunley Funeral Video Footage26 Apr 2004 09:35 GMT3
I have about 2-1/5 hours of video footage I shot at the Hunley Funeral
in Charleston, SC on Saturday April 17, 2004.  I started at 8:00 at
the Battery and captured the entire morning ceremony, about 95% of the
participants in the procession as they marched past me leaving the

Hunley20 Apr 2004 23:18 GMT1
Can anyone direct me to a web site or whatever that would have *good* recent
photographs of the Hunley and also photographs of the parade and subsequent
funeral services for the crew.  I saw a photograph of a bugler, from the
*FAT* Confederate Brigade playing taps(?) at the funeral ...

Sad cluelessness at Chemeketa native American school16 Apr 2004 20:34 GMT3
Oregon civil war reenactors scheduled to do a lecture and appearance at the
Chemeketa Indian School in Salem were disappointed to find their
presentation cancelled.
Seems students protested the notion of having reenactors in Confederate
Irish tunes/Confederacy16 Apr 2004 10:40 GMT7
Hey, all.  Curious as to how much of an influence Irish folk music had on
Confederate soldier songs.  Web research is leading my all over the place
but I'm not finding what I need.
Anybody have any info, examples or leads?
Potter's _Impending Crisis_15 Apr 2004 15:45 GMT10
Before I reach for my wallet, can someone offer an opinion on whether or not
David Morris Potter's _Impending Crisis_ has withstood the test of time.  Is
the book still considered generally valid or has new research relegated it to
the remnants shelf?
Only Call Us Faithful15 Apr 2004 08:35 GMT1
Has anyone on here read the above-named novel by Marie Jakober?
It is about a Southern lady who is a convinced Unionist, and sets up a
pro-Union spy ring in Richmond itself.
It is a very good read, and seems to be well researched, but if you believe it,
Question for Seattle area CW buffs14 Apr 2004 12:50 GMT4
I am going to be visiting the Seattle area this week. Does anyone know of
any good used bookstores there that specialize in or have large Civil War
sections?  thanks.

"Eagle Discharge"11 Apr 2004 20:03 GMT3
A dealer in CW memorabilia says he has, among other things like reunion
ribbons, an "Eagle discharge". Does anyone recognize this term? In all my
extensive research in the past several year, I don't recall ever coming
across the term. If anyone recognizes it, I'd appreciate your ...
Harriet Jacobs07 Apr 2004 13:10 GMT1
I work for a children's nonfiction book publisher. Does anyone know
where I can purchase an image of Harriet Jacobs, as well as permission
to use that image? Any leads would be welcomed. I don't mind doing a
little digging.
Sources for Photgraphs07 Apr 2004 11:05 GMT4
I've been looking for photographs that can be used in a museum exhibit
about our local Civil War veterans and I found a very interesting website
last night at http://pro.corbis.com/default.aspx where I was able to do a
search in "historical" for "Civil War Massachusetts" and got ...
