Imagine that a man goes home and shoots his wife and throws her out of the
house. She goes to the police. The police come to the man's house and the
man barricades himself in the house and shoots at the police.  The police
end up invading the man's home and killing him.

Civil War History Question16 Jun 2004 22:42 GMT4
I've recently found out that my great-great-grandfather was a Union soldier.
He was in Company I, 114th New York State Volunteers Infantry Regiment.  He

Popular Sovereignty16 Jun 2004 20:25 GMT36
Why were the Northern people so infuriated by Senator Douglass's
proposal for popular sovereignty? Did it not seem to be the fair and
democratic way to settle the question whether a state would become a
slave or free state. Especially since the climate of Kansas and Nebraska
