Has there ever been a study made as to the effects on Lincoln and the union if the north had pulled out of Ft.Sumter before they were attacked? Would this have damaged Lincoln and his administration? Perhaps the four upper southern states would have remained in the

Early in the war many top officials and others thought the war would only last six months or less. On what did they base this assumption? Did they think that the South with all of its hatred would simply come back into the union? Did they think the Union would just say let them

Was moving the capital to Richmond necessary to get Virginia into the CSA? Did not having the CSA capital so near the USA border and especially so near Washington encourage the USA to feel just one victory in Northeast
