Wert, in _The Sword of Lincoln_ says that Warren _did_ send Crawford's men into the rear of the Confederate's at White Oaks. What exactly did the court find in 1879? Has anyone here an opinion, or do people every avoid all expressions of opinion?

It is obviously American doctrine to try and kill the enemies president. We bombed Quadafis'(Libya) house in the middle of the night. We bombed Husseins'(Iraq) house in the midle of the night.

Lincoln made many speeches in his life. In my opinion his greatest are the Gettysburg Address and the second inaugural. Of these two I think the second inaugural is the greatest. I would be interested to find out how members of this news group felt and why.----Paul
