(also known as sonic bangs...) Some of the long range artillery used in WWII (both land and sea) had supersonic muzzle velocities. Some anti-aircraft and anti-tank projectiles were also supersonic.

Something that seems to be missing from movies about Infantry in WW2 is that you almost never see overhead cover in foxholes... I was watching 'Bastogne' from Band of Brothers, and I was reminded deeply why you use 18" of overhead cover on a fighting position (foxhole)...

Does anybody know what happened to Norman Dyke after Easy Company's (101st airborne) attack on Foy? Was he killed while he stopped in the field or was he sent back to HQ. If he did survive the attack does anybody know what happened to his army career?

In 1934, Leni Riefenstahl was chosen by Adolf Hitler to make the propaganda film "Triumph of the Will". I've read that they're were other propaganda films made by Riefenstahl before the war, but I can't find any details. Does anyone know about any such films?

I was reading Prange's books about Pearl Harbor, and a common theme keeps popping up... That the Japanese had Petty Officers flying combat aircraft... Someone told me that the US Army Air Corps started out with many Enlisted pilots and had them throughout the war...
