New Religions Started During WWII?30 Oct 2004 16:08 GMT13
What, if any, were the religions that were started during WWII?  I'm
particularly interested in those that may have started in the United
States, but I'm also wondering about those around the world.
Does anyone know?
Octopus camouflage30 Oct 2004 16:06 GMT2
I've seen 1 picture of the Octopus camouflage on a knocked out King Tiger.
Was this scheme thought up by the crew or some new issued scheme?
If the latter is the issue, what was the rationale behind it? I can
understand Ambush, but Octopus...
Overestimation of naval targets30 Oct 2004 16:05 GMT10
I've been doing a lot of reading about WWII submarine warfare, in
particular the U-boat campaign, and again and again have seen
references to commanders overestimating their kills.  These seem to
fall into two categories:

Air power-WWII28 Oct 2004 17:24 GMT72
Can it fairly be said that air power was the decisive advantage held by the
allies in WWII.  Obviously, the bombs dropped on Nagasaki and Hiroshima
brought the Pacific War to an abrupt end.  However, to what extent were
pre-war theories of air power validated by real life ...

German Surrender -- Who was still fighting?27 Oct 2004 17:34 GMT79
I read Germany surrendered on the attack on Berlin -- but how did people
get there?
From what I read, Germany still occupied the Netherlands, Denmark,
Norway, Italy, etc... why did it just not recall troops to Germany to fight?

Hilter's Suicide mere Propaganda?26 Oct 2004 18:22 GMT29
Does anyone else agree that the story of Hitler committing suicide is
excellent propaganda?
What better way to strike a fatally concussive blow at the
megalomaniacal Nazi movement than to have the fearless leader, the
Hitler's mental illness?26 Oct 2004 16:39 GMT5
I just watched a documentary on Leni Riefenstahl (Hitler's Women) which
included an outtake from the '36 Olympics film. The candid piece of film shows
Hilter rocking side to side like an autistic child. The narrator cited this as
evidence of Hitler's mental instability.

Allied bodies returned home?24 Oct 2004 23:44 GMT11
I expect it would have varied from force to force, country to country, but
could you comment on whether the family of a soldier killed in action was
able to arrange for the body to be brought home?
