How bad was it in Soviet occupied Germany for the german citizens? Were they treated like Russian citizens or tortured?

For reasons of research I am looking for images of the type of flarepaths that were used to illuminate RAF runways in WW2. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good resource? PS I am not a Nazi spy!

There must be some remote exhcanges of fire that took place in WW2. I would like to know what the remotest was. I am subpecting it to be naval and maybe on some small rocky outcrop in the middle of the antartic wilderness or somthing similar..
