I was wondering what you might consider recommended reading for the Pacific theather? I have a fondness for the Corsair and its campaigns. CAn someone recommend a list from midway to the end of the war?

I have read a number of books about US and British involvement in WWII and recently read Alexander Werth's "Russia at War". Could someone suggest a good book that gives the German military point of view at the top level over the whole war?

Knowing Winnie, then surely *some* prep on the (whole) UK coast must have been considered and underway at that time? There must have been some gun emplacements by then, even possibly some built for WWI or earlier...?
