I have a question about the Intrepid Aircraft Carrier in New York City:
On the Aircraft Carrier Intrepid, I've heard there's a deck called the

Hilters Condor aircraft29 Jul 2005 00:43 GMT22
From numerous websites I gleaned the sketchy information that Hitler

(Condor was a large German civilian passenger aircraft designed in the
mid 1930's. It could carry 40 people on non-stop transatlantic journeys

Historically Inaccurate Fiction27 Jul 2005 00:41 GMT41
How do you feel about historically inacurate fiction?
I am reading a WWII novel which is historically (and
geographically) inaccurate.  It both bothers me and
reminds me that it is fiction.  Not only does the

James Bacque25 Jul 2005 17:27 GMT81
I have just finished reading "Crimes and Mercies" by Bacque.  I am
aware that there is some sort of "consensus" out there that Bacque is
completely discredited, etc.  However, I am having difficulty finding
anything of real substance.  I have already ordered the book edited by
Was Japan right to atack Pearl Harbour?24 Jul 2005 22:28 GMT616
As I understand it, the Japanese motivations for attacking Pearl
Harbour went like this:

My daughter is to attend school tomorrow dressed as she would have been

anyone any idea what would have been on the labels attached to each
child?
Yamato Last Sortie - Atomic Bomb "What-if"24 Jul 2005 22:12 GMT48
With all the "hand-wringing" about the use of atomic bombs in World War
II at Hiroshima and Nagasaki, most of which "hand-wringing" began 10 or
more years after the war ended, think of the advantage of having the
bomb ready in time for when one or more major purely military targets

A new book has come out comparing Hitler to Stalin.  The book is called
"The Dictators Hitler's Germany, Stalin's Russia" and it's by Richard
Overy (WW Norton, 2004).  The book contains considerable detailed
information and footnote citations for the reigns of both dictators.  A
